NIE: what you need to sign, not only to view

The NIE (Número de Identidad de Extranjero) is your tax number in Spain. The notary, the bank and the land registry ask for it. It is not citizenship and not a residence permit.

If you live in Romania you can apply at the consulate or, once here, by appointment. I tell you which papers to prepare; I do not issue the number and I do not promise delays I do not control.

If you buy as a couple, both of you need a NIE. If a company buys, that is a company NIF — a different file.

I do not mix NIE with empadronamiento or tax residence. They are three things. I put them on paper when we speak.
